Contract administration service
Pavement Engineering’s Contract Administration Service takes the headache out of contract work and competitive bidding. We can assist in selecting prospective contractors, conduct pre-bid meetings, receive and review bids, recommend contractor awards, secure insurance documents, review scheduling of technical data, payment requests and lien releases, and process final payments. We can do all the repetitive daily or specialized tasks while the owner retains complete financial control and approval over critical construction stages.
We normally perform administrative services in combination with inspection and field-testing services. Because our reputation, experience and knowledge in designing and constructing payments, PEI’s clients expect a higher quality of participation, fairness and good judgment, which we provide.
Inspection service
PEI’s Inspection Service gives owners a greater degree of confidence that a contractor’s completed work will conform substantially to the design concepts of any contract document. Our professional staff of engineers and technicians has the specialized knowledge to verify contractor performance and make necessary performance judgments to ensure a project’s success.
The type and scope of our inspection services are project-specific. We concentrate our efforts on paving items, providing the miscellaneous details and preparation work required to outline and schedule tasks appropriately.
Testing service
Part of ensuring quality contractor work is ensuring quality materials and workmanship. PEI has the field equipment, the experience and knowledge to perform all necessary quality control aspects of a project.
We perform field density tests on soils, aggregates and asphalt concrete using a nuclear density gauge. This provides the maximum density and optimum moisture content for soils and aggregates, as well as the maximum compacted and theoretical unit weights, core unit weights stability, and air voids for asphalt concrete. We can also perform custom tests for lime-treated soils or recycled aggregate bases.
